Professor JP Guevarra teaching style is detail oriented and is an accumulation of his own personal training and teaching experiences since he began his BJJ journey in 2009. Professor JP received his Black Belt in October 2020 from Professor Renan Vital.
Professor Renan Vital is a native from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
Professor Renan is 4th degree Black Belt in BJJ, Judo Black Belt, Capoeira Instructor and the founder of Vital Brothers Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy and located in North Miami, Florida.
Professor JP moved from Tokyo, Japan to Idaho in 2019 to pursue his career, but living in a small town of Mountain Home, the lack of authentic Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy option in the community. On August 2021, Prof. JP decided to open his own academy In Mountain Home, Idaho. Now Vital BJJ Team is one of the successful academy in Elmore county.

Welcome to We Defy Foundation Scholarship
Jiu Jitsu fosters a sense of community that is generally missing in many veterans' lives. This program will provide the opportunity for you to connect with like minded warriors and rebuild a sense of brotherhood or sisterhood that has been missing.
The simple act of participating the sport of Jiu Jitsu fosters healthy living. Studies have shown that not only do you get in better shape, but alcoholism, PTSD, anxiety and depression are also curtailed through Jiu Jitsu.
We believe that in order to serve others, you must be able to serve yourself first. Through community and health, you begin to emerge a better person. And as a result, you are ready to serve others. We encourage our athletes to continue as Ambassadors and further the reach of the We Defy program.
